2010 Bellwether

About Bellwether Education Partners
Bellwether Education Partners is a non-profit firm dedicated to building a robust community of innovative, effective and sustainable change agents who are committed to dramatically accelerating the achievement of low-income students. We do this through a combination of grant-funded programs, and specialized, practical, and actionable services we provide to organizations and individuals in public education. Our activities focus on four primary areas:

·
Thought leadership and knowledge generation for the field,
·    Strategic advising and consulting,
·    Leadership and organizational development, and
·    Executive search and placement.

While Bellwether is a brand new organization that will officially launch this spring, the leadership team is composed of individuals who have established themselves as leaders in the education innovation space. This stellar team is distributed nationally, and will position Bellwether to attract an array of clients from the public and private sectors, spearheading innovative solutions in public education.

Kim Smith is CEO of Bellwether Education Partners. She is recognized as an innovative and entrepreneurial leader in education, and was featured in Newsweek's report on the "Women of the 21st Century" as "the kind of woman who will shape America's new century.” She co-founded and led the NewSchools Venture Fund, where she helped to create a new cross-sector and post-partisan community of entrepreneurial change agents in public education. Andrew Rotherham heads up the Thought Leadership practice of Bellwether Education Partners. He is considered one of the most influential thought-leaders in the education space. He has led two non- profit education policy and publishing ventures, most recently Education Sector, and has been a board member for several other high-impact education start-ups. He is also author of the award-winning education blog eduwonk.com. Mary Wells heads up the Strategic Consulting practice at Bellwether Education Partners. She has a hybrid background, having spent seven years at Bain & Company leading project teams in the private sector, and then shifting into the education reform sector as the Program Officer at the Texas High School Project overseeing New Schools and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Monisha Lozier heads up the Executive Search practice at Bellwether Education, and has been an executive recruiter focused solely on the education sector for over a decade.
