Calvert Foundation is affiliated with but is a legally separate entity from Calvert Group, Ltd., the largest family of socially responsible mutual funds in the country. Community investment provides a sustainable solution to poverty by giving underserved populations access to critical financial services, while allowing investors to receive a financial and social return on their investment. This industry, which has grown exponentially from $4 billion to nearly $26 billion over the last 10 years, empowers communities through the creation of jobs, homes, community facilities and more.

At Calvert Foundation, we offer innovative products and services that allow individuals and institutions to participate in this exciting new marketplace. As an organization fully committed to the success and growth of this market, we have helped our investors and supporters build/rehabilitate over 12,000 homes, create 272,000 jobs in the U.S. and in developing countries through microfinance, and financially support nearly 16,000 cooperatives and community facilities through our various investment and philanthropic offerings.

The Community Investment Note, Calvert Foundation’s flagship product, is a “blended value” investment that allows investors to earn a financial and social return, measured by its impact on communities. Proceeds from the Note are used to make flexible, affordable loans to over 240 high-impact nonprofits and social enterprises working to fight poverty. Investors in the Note include individuals, families, foundations, and mutual funds. The Note can be purchased through a brokerage account working with a financial advisor, online at www.microplace.com, or directly from Calvert Foundation.

Calvert Foundation offers additional options for participation in innovative philanthropic and community investment programs:
