About DC Public Education Fund
The DCPEF is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to improving the District of Columbia Public Schools by engaging the business, philanthropic, and school communities in strategic reform initiatives that drive student achievement, including school improvement, principal leadership, teacher development, and student supports. Working closely with the Chancellor and her senior leadership team, DCPEF develops proposals, manages grants, and supports ongoing relationships with private funders on behalf of DCPS.

Portfolio Associate
Reporting directly to the Portfolio Director(PD), the Portfolio Associate will support the PD in developing and implementing strategies to raise significant private financial support (approximately $10M per year) for a specific set of projects that are part of the DCPS’ system-wide reform initiatives. 
- Develop and implement strategies with PD for individual campaigns/projects – targeting and engaging an array of national, local, and individual donors.
- Support all aspects of fundraising for specific projects and initiatives, including: researching prospective donors and partners, developing revenue generation strategies and initiatives; helping to forge relationships with potential funders; working with DCPS program teams to hone ideas and develop proposals; and writing proposals and creating budgets.
- Assist PD in project management– work with the DCPS program team to refine goals, objectives, desired outcomes, and success metrics.  In later stages, attend meetings to monitor project progress and support in the reporting process.
- Work with foundation staff to answer ongoing questions during all phases of proposal creation and reporting, and generally facilitate their working relationship with DCPS.
- Report to funders on progress of grants received, ensuring accountability and compliance with grant agreements via written reports and funder briefings. 
- Work with all members of the Fund to develop and update office goals, strategic plans, and fundraising strategies.

- Top-notch writing skills, and a desire to dedicate significant time and energy to writing multiple types of documents (reports, presentations, proposals) for multiple audiences.

- Strong analytic, strategic, and planning skills.

- High level of personal responsibility, initiative, and motivation with strong organizational skills; ability to drive projects forward and be persistent, as well as be flexible and patient.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and real facility working with a wide range of individuals, strong collaborative teamwork skills.

Operations and Information Manager
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Operations and Information Manager will be responsible for maximizing organizational effectiveness by carrying out operational processes and maintaining information flows. The Operations and Information Manager will work closely with the DCPEF team to support individual team members in their critical fundraising, due diligence, and grants management work and track progress on organizational goals and metrics. Ultimately, the Operations and Information Manager is responsible for ensuring that the DCPEF office functions efficiently and effectively, and that all DCPEF staff have the information and tools necessary to do their jobs well.

Core Responsibilities:
- Maintain organizational performance tracking system;

- Produce monthly and quarterly performance dashboards for staff, board, and DCPS senior leadership;

- Manage records and information in donor and development database (Raiser’s Edge);
- Manage grant disbursement process and liaise with external accounting firm;
- Ensure DCPEF staff have relevant donor and grant information at their fingertips;

- Maintain and update website;

- Draft organizational documents and contribute to other written communication on an ad hoc basis;

- And provide oversight for undergraduate student interns.

An ideal candidate must possess:
- Bachelor’s degree from a leading university;

- 2-3 years of professional experience;
- Exceptional analytic, strategic, and organizational skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills;

- Strong computer and related technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;

- High level of personal responsibility, initiative, and motivation;

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment;

- Ability to drive projects forward and be persistent, as well as flexible and patient;

- Excellent interpersonal skills and facility working with a wide range of individuals.
 
The following are desirable, but not required:
- Experience in fundraising, including writing of proposals;

- Prior experience with Raiser’s Edge, development databases, and/or databases in general;

- Direct experience in the education, development, and/or philanthropic sectors.
