Fellows: Selection

Selection Process ProInspire conducts a rigorous selection process based on our selection criteria and needs of hiring partner. Each year only 3-5% of candidates are selected as ProInspire Fellows. The selection process has four stages:

Stage 1: Resume and Cover Letter The deadline for April 1st start dates or priority consideration for the August start dates is Wednesday, Feb. 8th.  Submit your application, resume and cover letter at http://www.proinspire.org/fellows/apply/. Cover letter and resume should be in word format, with the following labels “FirstName_LastName_Cover” aFirstName_LastName_Resume.” 

Stage 2: Essay
Candidates advanced to stage 2 will be asked to submit essay responses and an assessment form.

Stage 3: Phone Interview
Applicants who demonstrate the core qualifications in their application and essay will be invited to participate in one or more phone interviews with ProInspire.


Stage 4: Interview with Hiring Partners
Select candidates will be invited to conduct phone interviews with our Hiring Partners.  The strongest candidates will be invited for in-person interviews in Washington D.C.  Note that candidates cover their own travel costs for in-person interviews.

Selection Criteria
Successful candidates will have:
  • A minimum of two years of business experience by August 2012
  • Passion for using their business skills to have a positive impact on society
  • Humility and eagerness to learn
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-direction and a “can-do” attitude
  • Adaptability in ambiguous situations and demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
  • Willingness to live in Washington D.C. for the program
