Domestic Volunteer Programs

Compass DC: http://www.compassdc.org/ Through pro bono strategic consulting, Compass strengthens the capacity of Greater Washington DC nonprofits. Volunteers are typically MBA alumni from top business schools.
Taproot Foundation: http://www.taprootfoundation.org/ The Taproot Foundation matches volunteers with pro bono projects at nonprofit organizations.  Volunteers play a specific role on a 4-5 person project team.
Volunteer Match: http://www.volunteermatch.org/ Volunteer Match enables volunteers to search for volunteer opportunities based on different criteria.

International Volunteer Opportunities

Kiva Fellows: http://www.kiva.org/about/fellows-program The Kiva Fellows Program offers individuals an opportunity to travel abroad and witness firsthand the impact and realities of microfinance, by working directly with a host microfinance institution (MFI).
Peace Corps: http://www.peacecorps.gov/ More than 195,000 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in 139 host countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation.
Technoserve Volunteers: http://www.technoserve.org/take_action/BecomeaVolunteer.aspx TechnoServe's volunteer consultant program engages select business professionals for three- to 12-month-long projects, generally based in the developing world.

Service/Career Transition Programs

AmeriCorps: http://www.americorps.org/ Each year, AmeriCorps offers 75,000 opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds to serve through a network of partnerships with local and national nonprofit groups.
Broad Residency in Education: http://www.broadresidency.org/ The Broad Residency is a two-year leadership development program that places participants into full-time high-level managerial positions in school districts and charter management organizations (CMOs), where they can have an immediate impact on the education of America’s students. The Residency is designed for individuals with an advanced degree, at least four years of work experience and a successful track record of leadership and/or management.
CityYear: http://www.cityyear.org City Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them skills and opportunities to change the world.
New Sector Residency in Social Enterprise: http://www.newsector.org/services/talent.php The New Sector Residency in Social Enterprise serves clients by recruiting, training, and supporting competitively-selected recent college graduates and young professionals to complete projects in all practice areas over the course of a full year.
Teach for America: http://www.teachforamerica.org/ Teach for America recruits outstanding recent college graduates of all majors and career interests and working professionals to commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools.  They invest in the training and professional development necessary to ensure their success as teachers in our highest-poverty communities.

Civic Ventures: http://www.civicventures.org/ Civic Ventures is the leading voice on baby boomers working for social change as their "encore" career.  They are currently piloting an Encore Fellows program in the Silicon Valley.
Experience Corps: http://www.experiencecorps.org/ Experience Corps is a national program that engages people over 55 in tutoring and mentoring for youth.
