Advisory Council Member Justin Steele Launches Google.org Initiative

Justin Steele-headshotProInspire would like to extend congratulations to Justin Steele, a member of ProInspire’s Strategy Advisory Council and Bay Area Giving Lead at Google.org. Justin has been a partner and advisor to ProInspire since our early days, when he worked at Year Up of the National Capital Region.

This month, Justin successfully launched a major initiative for Google.org that will give $2.35 million in grants to community organizations that are working to combat racial injustice across the United States. Our nation has been gripped by stories of racial inequity and the tech company is supporting organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area taking on systemic racism in America’s criminal justice, prison and educational systems.

Justin also worked on the Google Impact Challenge, which identifies nonprofits with innovative ideas for building a better Bay Area, with the top funding recipients chosen by a public vote. The Google Impact Challenge awarded $5.5 million to six Bay Area nonprofits. Two of the selected recipients are ProInspire partners – Kiva and The Reset Foundation! Kiva will use funds to support local small businesses in Oakland using 0% interest loans and The Reset Foundation will continue to help incarcerated young adults by building an alternative prison that provides education and vocational skills.

Google.org also supports ProInspire through the Google Ad Grants Program, providing us valuable in-kind support for our programs. Please join us in congratulating Justin Steele and the entire Google.org team!
