ProInspire Receives $2.1 Million Investment to Launch ProInspire Fellowship in Digital Finance

Grant from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will fund new fellowship program to engage the government and private sector in advancing global development and inclusive economies through digital finance

ProInspire, a nonprofit focused on developing leaders for the world’s greatest challenges, is excited to announce a $2.1 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This significant investment will enable ProInspire to launch the ProInspire Fellowship in Digital Finance, a unique opportunity for experienced professionals in fintech, digital finance, and financial inclusion to put their knowledge and perspective to work in the U.S. Government.

The ProInspire Fellowship in Digital Finance will select established professionals with a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience to complete a yearlong, paid fellowship working with a federal agency to achieve the following goals:

  • Expand government capacity around digital finance, financial technology, and financial inclusion
  • Increase access and usage for unbanked and underbanked individuals across the globe
  • Improve efficiency and financial integrity, increase national security, and strengthen the U.S. economy

The ProInspire Fellowship in Digital Finance will engage leaders from across the U.S. Government, the private sector, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector. To support the launch of this program, ProInspire has assembled a Fellowship Advisory Committee of industry leaders. Advisory Committee members include senior representatives from MasterCard, McKinsey, PayPal, Visa, Accion, Aspen Institute, the Center for Financial Services Innovation, CGAP (the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), Devex, and more.

“ProInspire is excited to launch this new program,” said Monisha Kapila, ProInspire’s Founder and CEO. “This effort brings together expertise in managing fellowship programs and continues our work supporting leaders at all levels in organizations focused on financial inclusion over the past eight years.

Recruitment for the ProInspire Fellowship in Digital Finance is expected to launch in summer 2017. To learn more, please visit proinspire.wpengine.com/digitalfinance.
