Social Citizens who want to make a difference
by Monisha Kapila
Today I wrote a guest post about ProInspire for the Social Citizens blog, a project of the Case Foundation: http://www.socialcitizens.org/blog/do-you-want-job-where-you-can-make-difference
Social Citizens was started after the release of a discussion paper from the Case Foundation about how millenials are influencing civic engagement. The research found that Social Citizens are a diverse group, not just millenials. Characteristics of Social Citizens are:
- passionate about social causes
- brimming with new ideas for problem solving
- equipped with digital tools
- people power to make change in the world
There are a lot of common goals between ProInspire and Social Citizens. We have both recognized the growing interest amongst people to make a difference in multiple ways–volunteerism, activism, fundraising, and careers. The ProInspire Fellows program is focused on identifying business professionals who want to "do good" and placing them with organizations that are looking for their skill sets.
The key question for me is how do you channel this energy and interest to have the most impact?
