Andrea Rush

San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, Board and Executive Coordinator

Andrea Rush is a ProInspire Fellow at the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, an established local non-profit committed to preventing child abuse and reducing its devastating impact.  There, she serves in the role of Board and Executive Coordinator.  Prior to working at the Prevention Center, Andrea received her Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University Law School, with a certification in International and Comparative Law.  Between moving to New Orleans in 2009 and moving to San Francisco in the fall of 2013, Andrea worked as a law clerk and case manager for various New Orleans law firms and as a Research Assistant for two professors working respectively on domestic violence and race/gender issues and environmental issues.  She also worked on pro-bono projects with Tulane University Legal Assistance Program and the Captive Animal division of PETA.  Prior to moving to New Orleans, she worked in New York City as an Executive Assistant/Chief of Staff to the Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Engineering, Design, and Construction, New York City Department of Environmental Protection.  This was her first full-time role after graduating from Duke University in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science.  In her free time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her partner of six years, Omar, and their two calico cats.  She also enjoys exercising, having trained as a dancer, and teaches fitness classes at a local studio part-time.  Her biggest passions are for human rights and women’s rights, particularly within the framework of inter- and intra-national conflict.
