Heran Getachew

FHI360, Analyst

Heran Getachew is a ProInspire Fellow at FHI 360, a global development organization whose rigorous, evidence-based approach addresses some of the world’s most complex health and development challenges. As an analyst, Heran provides project management support to transformation projects endorsed by executives to manage the post-merger integration between FHI360 and AED. Her role includes conducting competitive analysis of the South Africa region and monitoring the execution of a country strategy development process for long-term business growth in six countries. Prior to joining FHI360, Heran worked to improve the strategy and operations of various government agencies as a Business Analyst within IBM’s Consulting practices. She also spent her time at IBM designing community service projects and building partnerships for the Corporate Citizenship office. Previously, she developed and implemented an independent microenterprise project targeting women in Ethiopia and directed an education program targeting youth at a startup nonprofit in Washington, DC. She currently sits on the Advisory Board of Dress for Success in Washington, DC and volunteers for Blessed Coffee, a local startup benefit corporation in Maryland. Heran graduated with a B.S. degree in Engineering Management Systems from Columbia University. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, exploring DC, taking dance classes, traveling, learning how to really cook and play soccer.
